Performance guarantees with highly loaded ECUs and communication networks in embedded automotive systems
Résumé
There is a strong pressure on the cost of the hardware in the automotive industry which leads the designers to strive to use the resources at the fullest of their possibilities, be they CPU or communication networks. Of course, this should not jeopardize the responsiveness and the safety of the system. In this talk, we will see how it is possible to fulfil these potentially contradictory objectives using sound scheduling strategies. Precisely, we will review some efficient solutions for the scheduling of tasks on ECUs (Electronic Control Unit) and for the scheduling of frames on CAN (Controller Area Network). This will be illustrated on real-world case-studies using CAD software tools.
