IPv6 Renumbering - Security and Monitoring. D1.1 - Scenarios and avoidance procedures.

Abstract

Renumbering is an integral part of the IPv6 protocol. This service is enabled by the Neighbor Discovery protocol. While offering several advantages, this protocol a serious security threat to the integrity of the network. This document contains a brief reminder on IPv6 renumbering and related problems, the description of the various network configurations we will consider in this study, and the first results of our thougths on this topic. This study was supported by CISCO Systems as part of the CISCO Applied Research and Developpement program.
