An Application of LARY_C: Discrete Wavelet Transform Applied to Heart Rate Variability Analysis. Assessment of the Autonomic Nervous System Behaviour in Control and Iron-Deficient Anemic Infants
Abstract
Our aim was to assess the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) behaviour in six months old iron-deficient anemic and control infants during sleep.\\ We used LARY_C, a software package, developped in the synchronous, data flow, parallel language SIGNAL, primary dedicated to the ANS analysis, through the study of physiological signals and their correlations.\\ We applied the discrete wavelet transform to heart rate variability analysis, which reflects the SNA activity. The method provides suitable frequency resolution in low frequency domain, which is precisely of physiological interest.\\ Significant differences between iron-deficient and control infants are shown in both quiet and active sleep, suggesting an autonomic dysfunction or delay in iron-deficient anemic infants.
