Wheelchair Proxemics: interpersonal behaviour between pedestrians and power wheelchair drivers in real and virtual environments
Résumé
Figure 1: In this paper, we are interested in evaluating collision avoidance strategies (b) including speed, side of avoidance, and shape-to-shape distance between a pedestrian and a power wheelchair user to improve the design of power wheelchair navigation simulators. We designed 2 experiments where one of the 2 persons involved in the interaction was static and the other was moving to a given goal while avoiding the collision. We also aim to compare avoidance behavior in real (a) and virtual (c) conditions.
