Uniform decay in mildly damped Timoshenko systems with non-equal wave speed propagation

Abstract

In this paper we consider a one-dimensional linear Timoshenko system in a bounded interval. The dissipation in the system is in the rotation-angle equation through heat conduction. We show that in the non-equal wave speed situation, the decay rate is polynomial.
