Abstract

The goal of this work is to identify, through computer methods, nucleotide patterns involved in transcription mechanisms in the bacteria Streptomyces coelicolor. In a preceding work [1], we explored the hypothesis of over-representation of regulation motifs in intergenic regions between genes of opposite orientation. While we were able to find by this method binding sites reported in literature, the number of false positives was too high to surely isolate any new interesting candidate motif. To obtain more reliable data, we turned to the comparative approach among phylogenetically related bacteria.
