Approximating the van der Waals interaction potentials between agglomerates of nanoparticles
Résumé
Van der Waals (vdW) are probably one of the most important interaction potentials or forces between nanoparticles and interfaces found in many applications of powder technology spanning filtration, impaction, coagulation, agglomerates restructuring, and resuspension. However, the vdW interactions are currently poorly modeled especially for raspberry-like and fractal-like agglomerates of nanoparticles due to their complex shape. In this work, we have developed both analytical and semi-analytical models to predict the agglomerate-molecule and agglomerate-agglomerate vdW interactions. These new models can find multiple applications in powder technology as those mentioned above.
