Introduction to BCI Software Platforms

Abstract

BCI platforms are collections of open source software tools and interfaces that assist in implementing, exploring and using BCI. The platforms alleviate research, design and use of Brain-Computer Interfaces by providing off-the-shelf versions of the common paradigms and components. These can then be applied or adapted as needed. In this chapter we give a high-level introductory overview of such platforms. Our presentation is centered on the OpenViBE platform, but we also discuss its differences to other well-known BCI platforms.
