A Context-aware Tele-homecare System for Senior Citizens
Résumé
As part of a thesis at the Loria research center of National Polytechnic Institute of Lorraine (INPL) and MEDETIC, a non-for-profit organization, a tele-homecare system is developed. The segment of population, we are targeting is the senior citizens. This system uses home automation sensors and other environmental sensors like bed and chair sensors to monitor the activity level of the elderly. Activity patterns are analyzed by an intelligent application which is based on Fuzzy Logic to find any unusual behavior. The system is designed for the elderly who wish to spend their old age in their own home, because of its potential to increase independence and quality of life. This would not only benefit the elderly who want to live in their own home, but also the national health care system by cutting costs significantly.
