Webinar IES ǀ Fake science: a panorama of methods and counter-measures to avoid traps
19/10/24
The problem of "fake" does not spare science.
5th November 2024 from 1 pm to 2 pm, Guillaume Cabanac guest speaker at the IES webinar, gave an overview of the new forms of misconduct that are polluting the scientific literature: buying articles from paper mills that copy-paraphrase and paste to produce tortured or computer-generated expressions (Scigen, Mathgen, ChatGPT), buying citations from agents who coordinate citation cartels, identity fraud, invented co-authors, infiltrating journals to accept articles en masse, and so on.
This conference also presented the counterattacks that can be taken, with concrete actions that can be incorporated into our practices to detect and protect against fraud
