Abstract

The Copy-Modify-Merge paradigm is now well accepted and commonly used by members of virtual teams. Unfortunately, this model of asynchronous collaborative editing is very painful for convergence stage. We are convinced that algorithms developed in Real-Time Collaborative Groupware can be used nicely to accelerate convergence in virtual teams. In this paper, we present an adaptation of the SOCT4 algorithm, which allows working in uncoupled mode according to the Copy-Modify-Merge paradigm and switching in coupled mode for convergence stage.
