Abstract

This paper focusses on cooperation concepts needed for managing concurrent engineering which is a major topic in every large project and particularly in large project design phase. Concurrent engineering and management of acti vities dispatched over a network are currently of high interest and numerous research project are starting or res tarting in conjunction with the evolution of hardware and software frameworks. Impact of PCs and Internet throug h simple interfaces allow geographically distributed partners to communicate. In particular, the wide usage of this framework allow partners to communicate during a short, or at least limited , time (for example during the construction of a building), even if these partners would not make substantial inv estments for establishing a dedicated network. The application domain chosen to highlight this approach has been taken in the AEC design environment.
