Abstract

Understanding distributed systems requires a fine understanding of order relations on the events their executions produce. The first part presents two mechanisms that capture two kinds of relevant orders (Lamport's clocks and Fidge-Matter's clocks). The second part shows how this kind of mechanisms can be used to implement different multicasts in distributed system. This report is essentially a short survey.
