Application of fictitious domain method to the solution of the Helmholtz equation in unbounded domain

Abstract

A specific variant of fictitious domain method for solving the Helmholtz wave equation is considered in the paper. Numerical experiments carried out for test 2D problems presented this variant in a very good light. For example, a problem has been solved for airplane-like obstacles with 90 wavelengthes on its body and 1.400.000 mesh nodes.
